Welland police say a man broke into a home at night, choked and sexually assaulted a young child

A 25-year-old man, Daniel Senecal, has been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault after allegedly breaking into a Welland, Ont., home and violently assaulting a young child. The child, under five years old, was found with serious injuries and remains in stable condition in the hospital; the investigation is ongoing with support from the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Units.
