Wave Rally Returns to Coronation Beach for Windsurfing Event
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The 2026 Wave Rally World Championships will take place at Coronation Beach from January 9-11, featuring over 70 windsurfers, although the event may be shortened to two days due to weather forecasts predicting peak winds of 38.2 km/h. Organizer Paul van Bellen anticipates more thrilling action compared to last year, with reigning champion Albert Pijoan and local pro Jaeger Stone competing. While participation numbers are slightly lower than last year’s 81, the event remains the largest windsurfing competition in Western Australia, despite overlap with the Junior World Windsurf Championships. Van Bellen hopes future events will avoid such scheduling conflicts to enhance participation.
