F1 and Manufacturers to Decide on Additional Engine Tests

Formula 1’s five power unit manufacturers will vote on a proposed change to the measurement of engine compression ratios, which may be implemented during the summer break. The 2026 regulations set the compression ratio at 16:1, reduced from 18:1 the previous year. This ratio has traditionally been measured at ambient temperature when the engine is not running. The outcome of the vote could significantly impact engine performance and design moving forward.
