UPS has grounded its MD-11 fleet, which comprises 9% of its air fleet, following a deadly crash in Louisville that killed at least 14 people. The decision was made for safety reasons at the recommendation of the aircraft manufacturer. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident, where the left engine of the plane caught fire and detached during takeoff. Despite the grounding, UPS has assured customers that contingency plans are in place to maintain service.
