A tragic incident occurred in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa overnight, resulting in the death of four individuals, including a three-month-old baby. The debris from a Russian drone strike hit an apartment block, causing significant damage and injuring eight people, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service on Saturday.
Odesa regional Governor Oleh Kiper confirmed that the debris came from a Shahed drone that was intercepted by Ukrainian air defences. Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the region faced attacks from eight drones, with seven of them successfully shot down by air defences.
According to Ukraine’s Armed Forces, 14 out of 17 drones launched against the country were successfully taken down by air defences. In Kharkiv, over 20 settlements experienced Russian attacks, resulting in damage to highrise buildings and causing three individuals to suffer from acute stress reactions.
In the Kherson region, a 53-year-old man lost his life due to Russian artillery shelling on Saturday morning, as reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
St. Petersburg apartment hit
Meanwhile, in Russia, a drone crashed into an apartment building in St. Petersburg on Saturday morning. Six individuals received medical assistance following the explosion, although the source of the drone attack remains unverified.
Reports indicate that drones have become significant tools of war in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as both sides continue to engage in hostilities.
