Ukraine opposes the Paralympic Committee’s decision to lift the ban on Russian athletes, arguing it allows for sportswashing amid the ongoing war. Ukrainian Sports Minister Matvii Bidnyi emphasized that athletes should not represent nations involved in terrorism and highlighted the implications of Russian athletes using sports facilities in annexed Crimea. With support from over 30 countries, including Britain, Ukraine calls for accountability from Russia for the destruction caused by the war. The situation remains uncertain regarding the participation of Russian athletes in the upcoming Milan-Cortina Paralympics.
