UK drivers could see major parking changes as ‘five-minute’ rule to be addressed

Private parking rules in the UK may change as industry bodies, British Parking Association and International Parking Community, plan to review their code of conduct to protect drivers facing difficulties in prompt payment. This comes after legal actions against a driver fined for taking more than five minutes to pay due to poor mobile signal. The private parking industry has been criticized for misleading signs, aggressive debt collection, and high fees, with drivers receiving over 41,000 tickets daily, totaling £4.1 million.
