US President Donald Trump described the recent negotiations between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear program as “very, very good,” citing “real progress” after a fifth round of talks in Rome. While the Oman-mediated discussions represent the highest-level contact since the US exited the 2015 nuclear accord, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi downplayed the progress, indicating complexities in the negotiations. Trump hinted at potential positive developments in the coming days, amid rising Iranian uranium enrichment levels and an impending review by the IAEA.
