Top MEP says frozen Russian state assets should be used to “reconstruct” Ukraine

During a meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, S&D leader in the EU Parliament Iratxe García emphasized the critical geopolitical period the West is facing and reiterated her group’s full support for Ukraine in its war against Russia. García called for the EC to use €200 billion of frozen Russian state assets to arm and reconstruct Ukraine and expressed commitment to assisting Ukraine in reforms for EU accession. The S&D delegation, including key MEPs, met with Ukrainian government representatives and young activists, emphasizing the need for unity among pro-European forces to ensure freedom, peace, and prosperity for Ukraine.
