Top Greek scientist says the Santorini earthquake outlook remains uncertain

Despite a recent decrease in earthquake frequency, uncertainty remains regarding continued tremors in Santorini and nearby islands, according to chief seismologist Costas Papazachos. A state of emergency has been declared, with schools closed and precautionary measures in place, including the establishment of an emergency port facility. Papazachos, representing emergency committees, stated that while the volcanic island is not in immediate danger, magma is contributing to the seismic activity, and ongoing monitoring is necessary to assess the situation accurately.
