Todd Blanche, the Department of Justice’s second-in-command and former personal attorney for President Trump, has been appointed as acting Librarian of Congress, following the firing of Carla Hayden. Alongside him, Associate Deputy Attorney General Paul Perkins has taken on the role of acting register of copyrights, while Brian Nieves serves as acting deputy librarian. The appointments come amid concerns about the authority of the president in such positions, with calls from Democrats for a congressional commission to oversee future librarian appointments.
