Thousands line Sydney streets for annual gay and lesbian parade

Huge crowds gathered in Sydney for the 47th annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade, with 10,000 participants and 180 floats making their way through the city. The parade, led by “Dykes on Bikes,” followed a route from Hyde Park to Anzac Parade, Moore Park, with after parties to follow. This year’s theme, “Free To Be,” celebrated LGBTQIA+ equality amidst a sea of glitter, glamour, and anticipation for a possible appearance by Kylie Minogue.
