A recent Leger survey indicates that 71% of Canadians find the federal government’s goal of all new vehicle sales being zero-emission by 2035 unrealistic, with 39% deeming the prohibition on gas-powered vehicles not realistic at all. Amid declining electric vehicle sales and pressure from automakers, the government is considering flexibility in its mandate, which aims for 20% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2026.
