Spain’s golden visa, in place for 12 years, allowed non-EU nationals to gain residency by investing €500,000 in property, with 95% opting for real estate over other options. A total of 15,450 visas were issued, with Chinese and Russians being the top beneficiaries, mainly in hotspots like Barcelona and Madrid. The surge in visas in 2022 and 2023 prompted the cancellation, with 780 granted in the last rush before the program ends on April 3rd, 2025.
