Army-backed government yet to give an official response to Quad’s proposal for ceasefire leading to civilian rule.
Loud explosions were reported in Khartoum as the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) expressed readiness for a truce after two years of civil war. The Quad, comprising the US, Egypt, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, proposed a ceasefire and a political transition, but the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have not yet officially responded. While the SAF welcomed the proposal, they demand the RSF withdraw from civilian areas first. The conflict, which has claimed tens of thousands of lives, is causing severe humanitarian crises, with fears of atrocities growing as fighting continues.
