Freshman students Vanessa Finder and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, who bonded over neuroscience at Brown University, faced tragedy when Umurzokov was killed in a mass shooting during a lecture. Despite not being enrolled in the targeted session, he attended with a friend and lost his life alongside fellow student Ella Cook. Finder, devastated by the loss, described Umurzokov as a bright, caring individual with dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon. She expressed that returning to campus without him will be profoundly difficult.
