Hegseth won’t release video of Sept. 2 U.S. strike
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the Pentagon will not release the full video of a controversial “double tap” strike that killed two survivors of a U.S. attack on September 2. Despite pressure from lawmakers, particularly Democrats, for transparency, Hegseth stated that only select committee members would view the footage. Senators Mark Warner and Lindsey Graham both expressed concerns regarding the lack of access for Congress and the broader implications of U.S. actions in the Caribbean, including potential consequences for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. U.S. Southern Command reported that over 90 alleged drug smugglers have been killed since the campaign’s inception in early September.
