Stormy weather expected at Rhythm and Vines, severe weather watch issued

Festivalgoers at Rhythm and Vines in 2021 are facing a severe weather watch issued by MetService for the Wairoa District, with stormy conditions expected on Monday. The watch covers the area east of Lake Waikaremoana and Gisborne, where heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon and evening, potentially prompting a warning upgrade. Despite the weather challenges, around 17,000 campers are currently in Gisborne for the festival, which concludes on New Year’s Day after experiencing a month’s worth of rain and high winds on Boxing Day.
