The Black Caps suffered a heavy 140-run defeat against Sri Lanka in a one-day cricket international at Auckland’s Eden Park, with the visitors dominating the match by scoring 290 for eight before bowling out New Zealand for just 150. Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka’s aggressive 66 led the way, with Kusal Mendis and Janith Liyanage also scoring half-centuries, while the Black Caps struggled to contain their opponents’ scoring rate. Despite a valiant 81 from Mark Chapman, New Zealand’s run chase faltered early as Sri Lankan bowlers Asitha Fernando, Maheesh Theekshana, and Eshan Malinga wreaked havoc.
