South Korea is accelerating talks with the U.S. to renew the Special Measures Agreement amid concerns over potential demands for increased defense contributions. South Korea is also considering increasing oil and gas imports from the U.S. to appease Trump, while President Yoon congratulated President-elect Trump and expressed optimism for future cooperation between the two countries.
