Shinde rejects BJP’s cabinet role offer, pushes for Mahayuti convener position: Sources

The BJP and Shiv Sena are in a standoff over the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra, with the BJP reportedly offering Eknath Shinde a cabinet minister position in the Union government or the role of deputy chief minister under Devendra Fadnavis. Shinde declined both offers and instead requested to be made the convener of the Mahayuti government or for his son to be appointed deputy chief minister. The delay in BJP’s response has postponed the swearing-in ceremony of the new chief minister in Maharashtra.
