Employees at the San Diego Humane Society are donning bear costumes to care for a two-month-old black bear cub, the youngest ever in their care, to prevent it from bonding with humans before its eventual return to the wild. Rescued from the Los Padres National Forest after being found weak and alone, the cub is now stable and thriving, receiving specialized care and enrichment activities to prepare it for life in the wild. The organization plans to keep the cub for up to a year and may pair it with another cub to reduce the risk of human imprinting.
