Arseny Konovalov, a 38-year-old former Russian diplomat, has been sentenced to 12 years in a maximum-security penal colony for espionage after leaking classified information to the United States between 2014 and 2017. Recruited while serving as Second Secretary at the Russian Consulate in Houston, he was arrested by the FSB in March 2024 and later fired from his position. His case remained undisclosed until now, and it highlights ongoing tensions between Russia and Western nations. In a related incident, a British man, Ross David Cutmore, was arrested in Ukraine for allegedly spying for Russia.
