Coroner Identifies Remains of Sharon Maccanico After Landslide

Fifteen-year-old Sharon Maccanico, a victim of a landslide while on holiday at Mount Maunganui, was identified in part due to her silver bracelet inscribed with “Max,” a memento from her boyfriend Max Furse-Kee, who also perished in the tragedy. The Coroner’s Court held a victim identification hearing where this detail was revealed. Both teens were students at Pakūranga College. The incident has deeply affected their families and community.
