Putin threatens Ukraine in remarks after former-Soviet states security summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin made military threats towards Ukraine, including the use of hypersonic missiles, during a press conference in Astana. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded, accusing Putin of escalating the conflict to pressure the U.S. to accept Russia’s terms. Putin also warned of targeting government buildings in Kyiv and criticized the U.S. for potentially supplying Ukraine with nuclear weapons. Putin complimented President-elect Donald Trump and expressed readiness to talk, despite concerns for Trump’s safety following an assassination attempt.
