Professor who inspired University of Chicago sit-in resigns

On February 12, historical events in the Chicago area included the founding of the NAACP in 1909 in response to race riots, the introduction of “The Gumps” comic strip in the Tribune in 1917, and a tragic plane crash in 1963 involving 16 Chicago residents.
