The region has since rebuilt its infrastructure to be more resilient and has installed early warning systems to improve preparedness for future disasters, thanks to the support of international donors. The tsunami also had a significant impact on Thailand, claiming over 8,000 lives and leaving nearly 400 bodies unidentified and unclaimed, marking a tragic chapter in the nation’s history.
