Population growth slows for first time since pandemic as federal government clamps down

Population growth in Canada slowed in the second quarter of this year due to government efforts to reduce temporary migration, according to Statistics Canada. This is the first quarterly slowdown since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 when borders were closed. International migration is the main driver of population growth in Canada.
