Pope Leo moves into residence previously avoided by Pope Francis

Pope Leo XIV has moved into the papal apartments at the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace, ten months after his election as the first U.S. pope. The apartments, previously occupied by his predecessors, required extensive renovations following the tenure of Pope Francis, who opted for a simpler lifestyle. The lavish residence includes various rooms and a chapel, and Leo has also resumed visits to the papal summer residence at Castel Gandolfo, which Francis chose not to use.
