Atari 400 and 800 Innovations
In 1979, Atari launched the Atari 400 and 800, innovative home computers featuring custom graphics and sound chips, joystick ports, and advanced gaming capabilities, priced at $549 and $999. Fast forward 46 years, Polish engineer Piotr “Osa” Ostapowicz introduced “Atarino,” potentially the smallest 8-bit Atari computer re-creation, fitting all essential components into a 2×1.5 cm module using FPGA technology. This design faithfully reimplements the original Atari architecture, enabling it to run vintage software and maintain compatibility with original peripherals.
