Pakistan Sends Army to Secure Sri Lankan Cricketers
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Pakistan has deployed army and paramilitary forces to ensure the safety of Sri Lanka’s cricket team following a deadly suicide bombing in Islamabad. Despite initial concerns from players about staying in Pakistan, assurances of “foolproof” security from authorities and encouragement from the Sri Lankan president prompted the team to continue their tour. The attack, which killed 12 people, has revived memories of the 2009 Lahore attack on the Sri Lankan team. Sri Lanka is currently engaged in a three-match one-day series in Rawalpindi.
