Several Perth residents were disappointed at a water lantern festival when they were denied the lanterns they had pre-paid for, with many attendees claiming they were not offered refunds. The two-day event at Jackadder Lake attracted 5000 participants who faced disorganization, including a lack of lanterns due to “unforeseen inventory issues.” Social media complaints surged, and Consumer Protection WA advised those affected to lodge complaints. The City of Stirling, which promoted the event, faced scrutiny over its approval and environmental concerns regarding the lantern releases.
