Person suffers spinal injury jumping off wharf

Today, police confirmed that rumors circulating on social media about a death at Maraetai Beach in east Auckland are false. A person sustained a serious spinal injury after jumping off Maraetai Wharf and was taken to the hospital. In a separate incident, intruders set off alarms at a Beachlands liquor store before fleeing in a vehicle; police are currently investigating the situation.
