Erika Fairweather’s attempt to defend her world 400m freestyle title ended abruptly as she was disqualified for a false start during the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. Despite finishing fourth in her heat with a time of 4:03.39, which would have qualified her for the final, the disqualification came after an early movement at the start.
