Pakistan strikes Afghan base in response to ‘red line’ warning crossed

Islamabad conducted strikes on a military facility in Kandahar in response to Taliban drones targeting civilian areas and military sites. The conflict escalated with Pakistani President Zardari warning Kabul for crossing a “red line”. The drones were intercepted, but caused injuries in Pakistan. Pakistan accuses Kabul of sheltering Taliban fighters, while Afghanistan denies the claims. At least 75 civilians have been killed since hostilities intensified in late February.
