Children who are overweight or obese are at a higher risk of developing schizophrenia as adults, according to a recent study published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Interestingly, adults with excess weight actually have a lower risk of both schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) as found by the researchers. The study also looked at links between childhood body mass index (BMI) and other conditions such as depression and anxiety.
