A father, Anthony Mills, whose 18-year-old son Aaron died of meningitis B in January, is urging universities to raise awareness about the disease after a recent outbreak in Canterbury claimed the lives of two students. Aaron, a sport and science student, initially exhibited symptoms similar to fresher’s flu before suffering a seizure and ultimately succumbing to the illness. Mills, who previously warned the University of Kent about the dangers of meningitis, believes his son could have been saved with better information and access to the Bexsero vaccine, which is not widely available to adolescents.
