Oscars’ Hosts Ranked From Worst to Best

Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the 96th Academy Awards at Dolby Theater on Sunday, marking his fourth time hosting the prestigious event. Over the years, more than 70 famous faces have graced the stage to present the Oscars, with hosts ranging from iconic to cringe-worthy.

Some of the best and worst hosts in Oscars history include James Franco and Anne Hathaway, David Letterman, Neil Patrick Harris, Chevy Chase, and Seth McFarlane. Franco and Hathaway’s lack of chemistry made for an awkward evening, while Letterman described his hosting experience as a disaster. Harris’s remarks missed the mark, and Chase offended the audience with his opening monologue. McFarlane’s controversial hosting stint in 2013 received criticism for being hostile, ugly, and sexist.

On the other hand, Ellen DeGeneres is praised as one of the best Oscars hosts of all time. Her good-natured banter and viral Oscars selfie from the 2014 ceremony helped bring the event into the digital age. Despite some recent controversies, DeGeneres’s hosting skills are still remembered fondly by many.
