Only Parliament can address judge removal

The Supreme Court took note of Justice Yadav’s controversial speech at the VHP Legal Cell event in Allahabad, allegedly supporting the Uniform Civil Code and targeting minorities. 55 Opposition MPs in Rajya Sabha submitted a motion to remove him under the Judges Inquiry Act of 1968, leading to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s decision to admit or reject the motion. If admitted, a three-member committee will investigate and determine if grounds exist for Justice Yadav’s removal from his position as Allahabad HC judge.
