DNA evidence from a cigarette butt has led Sussex Police to name Keith Dowbekin as the suspected murderer of Jennifer Kiely, who was found dead in 2005 with multiple stab wounds in Eastbourne. Despite two suspects being arrested at the time, no charges were filed until recent advancements in DNA technology identified Dowbekin. He had died in 2014, but family members were traced through familial DNA strategies. Jennifer’s family expressed gratitude for the resolution of her case and advocated for compassion towards those experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges.
