Former Liberal cabinet minister Kirsty Duncan has passed away at 59 after a long battle with cancer. Elected five times as the MP for Etobicoke North from 2008 to 2025, she served in Justin Trudeau’s cabinet as minister of science and sport, focusing on safe sport. Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford paid tribute to her dedication and commitment to public service. Duncan did not seek re-election last year and had taken medical leave in January 2023.
