The National Green Tribunal (NGT) issued a notice to the Central government regarding the safe disposal of damaged solar panels, highlighting the lack of infrastructure for recycling PV panels, leading to environmental hazards. The Tribunal directed various government bodies to respond to the issue raised by a farmer in Uttar Pradesh within a week, emphasizing the need for proper disposal methods to prevent soil and water contamination from heavy metals found in solar panels. The lack of recycling standards for solar waste globally poses a challenge in reusing materials in new solar panels, as explained by Ajay Mathur of the International Solar Alliance.
