A recent multi-stage phishing campaign has been detected targeting users in Russia, utilizing ransomware and a remote access trojan known as Amnesia RAT. According to Fortinet FortiGuard Labs researcher Cara Lin, the attack initiates with social engineering tactics via business-themed documents that appear innocuous. These documents are designed to deceive users into compromising their systems, facilitating the attack. The campaign underscores the growing sophistication of cyber threats in the region.
