DOJ to seek death penalty for Luigi Mangione in CEO Brian Thompson murder case

Attorney General Pam Bondi has directed federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty for Luigi Mangione in the case of the December slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City, calling it a premeditated, cold-blooded assassination. Bondi stated the decision was made as part of President Trump’s agenda to combat violent crime and make America safe again. Mangione, 26, faces federal charges including murder, stalking, and firearms offenses related to Thompson’s killing outside the Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan on Dec. 4.
