Lifestyle block owner fined $4,200

Kathryn Rona Saunders, a Nelson lifestyle block owner, was fined $4,200 for recklessly ill-treating a cow with severe cancer eye, which she attempted to remove without veterinary help. The Ministry for Primary Industries found the cow in serious pain and distress, leading to its immediate euthanization to prevent further suffering. MPI urges the public to report any animal ill-treatment or cruelty to their freephone line for investigation and action.
