In 2023, she was sentenced to seven years in prison for her fraud, and a judge has now ordered her to pay nearly $1 million NZD in compensation or face additional prison time. Her deception was uncovered in 2018 when a journalist revealed her qualifications were fraudulent, as she only held a Bachelor of Human Biology from the university.
