King Charles III is visiting Canada for two days to express support for the country’s sovereignty amid U.S. President Trump’s comments about making Canada the 51st state. His visit, at the invitation of Prime Minister Mark Carney, includes opening parliament with a historic “Speech from the Throne” and participating in community events. While Charles is expected to convey a supportive message, royal historian Justin Vovk notes that explicit references to Trump are unlikely, as the king operates within a limited constitutional role.
