In 2018, journalist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered and dismembered by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) after entering a Saudi consulate. Six years later, Amazon, owned by Jeff Bezos, announced a partnership with MBS’ AI company, Humain, to invest over $5 billion in an “AI Zone” in Saudi Arabia, despite the moral implications of aligning with a regime responsible for Khashoggi’s death. This move reflects a troubling trend in the tech industry, where financial opportunities often overshadow ethical considerations, as seen with other companies previously distancing themselves from Saudi investments.
