Jean Chrétien absent from King’s address due to minor heart surgery

Former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien was absent from the anticipated address by King Charles III in Ottawa due to a minor heart surgery, having been admitted to the Ottawa Civic hospital before being transferred to the Ottawa Heart Institute for stent placement. His spokesperson, Bruce Hartley, confirmed that Chrétien is recovering well and is expected to resume normal activities soon. He was supposed to attend the King’s address alongside other former prime ministers and dignitaries.
