Israel’s Smotrich threatens Beirut suburbs amid evacuation orders

Israel has issued a forced evacuation order for the entire Dahiyeh area of Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, home to hundreds of thousands of people. Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich threatened to turn the area into another Gaza Strip, comparing it to the city of Khan Younis. The Israeli military ordered residents to leave the Burj al-Barajneh, al-Hadath, Haret Hreik, and Shiyah neighborhoods in southern Beirut. This evacuation order follows a similar directive for all of southern Lebanon. The conflict between Israel and Lebanon intensified after Hezbollah launched rockets towards Israeli territory. The death toll in Lebanon has surpassed 100, with thousands of people displaced.
